Dirigida por Shen Dong y protagonizada por Ray Lui, Yixuan Un Wenkang y Yuan, Death and Glory in Changde rememora una de las batallas más crueles y controvertidas durante la Resistencia china contra la Agresión Japonesa (1937-45), en noviembre 1943. En Changde, provincia de Hunan, 8.000 soldados del Kuomintang lucharon contra 40.000 soldados japoneses y con éxito consiguieron retrasar la invasión del sur de China.
